Today we celebrate world soil day! Looking back on our partnership with WeForest and their achievements around the world.
What is World Soil Day?

On the 5th of December, we celebrate World Soil Day. Looking back on what the earth gives and how we can give back to the planet to keep our planet a green and beautiful space for all to enjoy.

Did you know that there are more living organisms in a tablespoon of soil than people on Earth? Soil is a world made up of organisms, minerals, and organic components that provide food for humans and animals through plant growth.

Like us, soils need a balanced and varied supply of nutrients in appropriate amounts to be healthy. Agricultural systems lose nutrients with each harvest, and if soils are not managed sustainably, fertility is progressively lost, and soils will produce nutrient-deficient plants.

Weforest is working to create to restore the balance in the soil in many spaces. Currently working in Ethiopia, Zambia, France, and many more countries, they are setting up projects to re-forest the land.

Weforest is working in threatened and degraded tropical forests and landscapes to create locally-led restoration programs. Building local partnerships to deliver long-term transformational change. Also, retaining intact forests through strengthening local governance and working to reduce pressure in the buffer zones. These are just a few of the many great things that they do!

WeForest & Renewd®

Established in 2010, WeForest develops holistic and multi-stakeholder reforestation projects through a Forest and Landscape Restoration approach, mostly in tropical regions. Their vision? A world where communities and nature sustainably thrive together to stop global warming ‘in our lifetime’. Their mission is focused on conserving and restoring the ecological integrity of forest landscapes with local communities to deliver lasting solutions for climate, nature, and people. Today (2022) we have over 49 000 hectares (490 million m2) under restoration across 3 continents. Weforest aims to reach a total of 100 000 hectares by 2025.

In 2019, we started our partnership with Weforest promising that for every sold device we’d donate to help out their cause. Now in 2022, we’re proud to say that our partnership is still flourishing. As Renewd® keeps growing, we can do more and help create more awareness for Weforest and make more donations each year. Currently, Renewd® is restoring 56.28 ha!

Save the trees!

Do want to help out WeForest as well?  WeForest is taking donations in any form. For their most recent project, The Great Green Wall in Ethiopia, they are making strides to make Africa green again. The global Great Green Wall movement is to grow 8000 km across the width of Africa.

But they also always welcome new business ventures. Check out their website WeForest to see how you can get involved in making the earth a greener place!
